Emmy nomination for Dunshaughlin hairdresser

A young Meath woman has been nominated for an Emmy award and will grace the red carpet in Tinseltown on 17th September.
Tara native Catherine Argue, whose family now lives in Dunshaughlin, is a very talented hairdresser, who has been nominated for the television awards for her work on 'Vikings.'
She now lives in Wicklow where most of the filming is done.
Catherine, a daughter of Raymond and Sarah Argue, moved to Dunshaughlin from Skryne with her family when she was 10 years old. She went to school primary school in Dunshaughlin, and then secondary in Loreto Convent, Navan.
“I was always interested in hair, and at 19 went to train in David Marshalls Hair Salon in George's Street, and then moved on to work in their then, Dawson Street Salon.
“ I then moved to New York and worked as a stylist for two years and on my return I was lucky enough to get a job as a trainer in David Marshall's school on George's Street.
“It was from here that I began to work in film, starting on a show called 'The Tudors.'
The Tudors was being shot in Ardmore, Co Wicklow and a girl she knew rang her to they needed help so she went along.
“After that I kind of fell into it,” she recalls.
“I got hooked, and have been fortunate to have worked in the film and TV industry for past 11 years.”
Catherine is the key stylist on the Vikings set with Dee Corcoran, the head of Department and the other stylists are Jenny Readman, Ida Ericsson and Zuleka Delaney. She is responsible for the star, Kathryne Winnick's hair, and others.

Over the years, Catherine has worked on many other film and TV shows including 'Camelot', 'Leap Year', 'Quirke', 'Penny Dreadful', 'Loving Miss Hatto' and 'Titanic Blood and Steel'.
“I have been lucky enough to meet and work with some great cast and crew along the way. I usually work with the main characters and mainly women.”
Catherine said most of the actors she has worked with have been really nice but some stick out more than others. They are more charismatic.
“Gabrielle Byrne is lovely, really nice,” she says.
While it seems a glamorous world, Catherine says it certainly isn't always.
“You can find yourself working on a cold morning at 4am. It isn't always fun and games,” she says.
Catherine says that while she has been working on film and TV sets for 11 years, she occasionally dips in and out to salons to do a bit of ordinary work and keep up with the current styles.
“When you are working on the likes of Vikings or Tudors you have to do the styles of those periods,” she said.
The 69th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be held on 9th and 10th September at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Colbert and the 'Vikings' hair team will be travelling over to Los Angeles next week.
The Emmys will honor the best in US primetime television programming from 1st June, 2016 until 31str May 2017, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.  
Catherine is really looking forward to the ceremony, but hasn't yet decided what she will be wearing.
“It would be nice if we won, but it is absolutely great to have been nominated.
“Being nominated has made standing out in the wind/rain on the side of a mountain at 6am a little easier to swallow,” she says.
