Communities unite to support Naoise and family
The Dunderry and Ráth Chairn communities have come together to launch a major fundraising drive in support of three-year-old local boy Naoise Clarke who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumour.
In August, Naoise’s parents Damien Clarke and Eadaoin Ní Thailtigh received the most horrific news any parent can get when they were told that their beautiful little boy has an inoperable and untreatable brain tumour.
Until recently, Naoise was a fun loving, energetic little boy who was never ill, so his devastating diagnosis has come as a huge shock to the whole family and turned their world upside down.
Family and friends have now launched a fundraising drive to help the Clarke family at this incredibly difficult time.
A ‘gofundme page’ set up on Saturday has already raised over €10,000.
Dunderry GAA Club, who Naoise’s father Damien ‘Swiss’ Clarke has played with for many years, is holding a 5km family fun run/walk on Saturday, 23rd September in the village. Registration begins at 1pm in Dunderry GAA clubhouse with the road race to begin at 3pm. There will be refreshments afterwards in the clubhouse. All donations are welcome.
That evening, there will be a ‘craic agus ceol’ fundraiser and auction in Ráth Chairn Hall at 8pm. Tickets are €25. A group of family and friends is also doing a sponsored cycle from Galway to Ráth Chairn on the day.
Naoise’s family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support and are very grateful to all those who have made donations.
If you can’t make it to the fundraising events, you can still make a donation online at 'support for naoise'or by contacting (087) 6845131 or (087) 3632182.
