Meath aiming to finish the job on Sunday

More live television exposure for Meath camogie with the All-Ireland Intermediate Championship final replay against Cork scheduled for TG4 next Sunday from the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick at 1.30pm.

The teams played out a thrilling and somewhat controversial draw in the centrepiece of a triple-header at Croke Park on Sunday 10th September with the scores tied at 1-9 each.

Meath supporters will be hard-pressed to make the trip to Limerick, but with the senior and intermediate club hurling finals now on Saturday it will ease the burden somewhat.

However, it's unlikely that the capacity of the spacious Gaelic Grounds in Limerick will be tested for this confrontation.

Meath will go into the game with plenty of reasons for optimism as they have now played Cork twice this year and have not lost.

The journey to Limerick will not be a major issue as Meath already travelled to Rathkeale last February for a historic opening round National Camogie League Div 1 tie against Limerick.

Playing teams of the calibre of Limerick, Clare and Galway in a debut Div 1 campaign will stand the players in good stead when they run out for this replay against Cork's second team next Sunday.

It won't be easy as Cork will be aiming to atone for last year's defeat in the final by Kilkenny (1-11 to 3-6), but this Meath team has plenty of talented players who can also stand up to anything that an opposing team might produce.

Cork finished the drawn game with 14 players after goalscorer Katelynn Hickey was red-carded a minute from time by referee Liz Dempsey.
The Kilkenny official was widely criticised for not allowing play to develop in the third minute of added time and that ruled out what would have been a winning point from Megan Thynne.
Westmeath man John Dermody will officiate on Sunday and if Meath can even find a small improvement on what was a below par performance against Cork at Croke Park then they can take the trophy home and look forward to playing in the senior grade in 2018.

Jane Dolan will again be a key target for the Cork defence who will have learned plenty from the drawn encounter, but the Meath players have nothing to fear from the opposition and are quite capable of making amends for the disappointment they endured the last day.

For the stay at home supporters, this is the first time that TG4 has televised an All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie final and the coverage will begin at 1.20pm to facilitate a brief build up.
