Smullen edges closer to Keane
Defending Champion jockey Pat Smullen closed the gap on Trim rider Colin Keane to just five when he steered home two winners at Dundalk last night.
Smullen won the second race of the night, a 7f Handicap, on board Katiymann for trainer Mick Halford while Keane finished well down the field in14th on board Lightening Fast for his boss Ger Lyons.
In the second last race of the night Smullen and Halford teamed up again to get 1/2fav Massif Central home in a 1mile Maiden with back in sixth on board Lyons' Lady Nathaniel.
Smullen and Keane were second and third respectively in the third race, while Keane went close in the 7.30pm 7f Handicap when he was just a lenght and a quarter off the winner Bouquet Garni when on board JJ Murphy's Compatriot in second place.
Keane now lead Smullen by 90 winners to 85.
