Curraha claim IFC crown and make history

For the first time in their history Curraha are the Meath IFC champions after they defeated St Michael's 1-17 to 1-7 at Pairc Tailteann today. 

Stephen Morgan's side led from start to finish building on a 0-10 to 0-4 interval advantage to wrap up victory well before the end. 

The outcome was put well beyond the reach of a disappointing St Michael's side on 46 minutes when Andrew Battersby ran through the opposition rearguard to stoke the ball home. 

Conor Moriartyy and James McEntee each notched six points apiece for the winners who dominated the midfield exchanges. 

St Michael's never got to the tempo of the game and they missed a great chance to get a foothold after just eight minutes when Shane McDonnell drilled a penalty wide after David Lynch was fouled. 

Ciaran Lynch neatly stroked home a late goal for St Michael's but it was a mere consolation. By that stage the destination of the McDonnell Cup was well known.
