Water supply misery after Stamullen pipe burst

Stationary Water tankers are in place at Patrick’s School, Mountain View housing estate and Cuddles Creche at Glasheen-Kilbreck housing estate Irish Water working in partnership with Meath County Council advise that as a result of multiple different bursts on the same water main in Stamullen, since lunchtime on Friday (yesterday), the water supply to customers has been interrupted. Some customers have experienced a loss of water supply or a reduction in pressure since early afternoon on Friday. The bursts have occurred due to the fragile condition of the water main. Crews worked until 2am on Saturday morning to repair the bursts but unfortunately another burst occurred early this morning. Crews are currently on site and have completed the repair to the most recent burst. The network is now slowly recharging and it will take a number of hours for the water supply to be restored to all customers. Stationary water tankers are providing an alternative water supply to customers and are in place in Stamullen at St Patrick’s School, Mountain View housing estate and Cuddles Crèche at Glasheen-Kilbreck housing estate. These will remain in place until a mains water supply has been restored to all customers. Irish Water and Meath County Council would like to apologise to customers affected by these unplanned bursts. Crews have worked hard since early yesterday lunchtime to complete repairs. All available resources are being utilised to minimise disruption and restore supply to affected customers as quickly as possible. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure. The supply and service section will be updated as repairs continue throughout the day.
