Outstanding for Jacksie Kiernan

There was a sporting theme at last night's hugely successful Meath Tourism & Business Awards at the Newgrange Hotel, Navan and it was provided by one of the best known businessmen in the county, the one and only Jacksie Kiernan.

Jacksie received a standing ovation when it was announched by Kevin Stewart of Meath Co Council - "When I say the enxt few words it will reveal the identitiy of the recipient, he sold his first pair of shoes 49 years ago" - and reveal the identity it did and the reaction was instant.

The award was presented by last year's recipients Anne and Katie Madden of Fenu Health who are still students in secondary school in St Stephen's Green in Dublin.

Youth may have been the ingedient last year, but the judges certainly went to the opposite end of the scale this time around and opted for experience.
