Search teams looking for missing Navan man believe a second person may be in the water

Gardai and rescue services conducting searches of the River Boyne and Blackwater for missing Navan man John Stokes have received information that there may be a SECOND person in the water.

Searches are continuing for 49-year-old John Stokes from St Patrick’s Park in Navan who has been missing since Saturday 18th November. Meath Civil Defence, Meath River Rescue and the Garda Sub Aqua Unit have been co-ordinating the search, which which will enter its 14th day tomorrow when operations resume at first light. Family and friends have also been assisting in searches.

Gardai have renewed their appeal to the public for information on Mr Stokes whereabouts. He was last seen at around 10pm on Saturday, 18th November at St Patrick’s Park, Navan and is described at 5’9” in height, and of slim build. It is not known what clothes he was wearing. 
Gardai are also asking people out walking along the Boyne and Blackwater Rivers to be aware of the search and keep a look out.

Tonight it has emerged that gardai and rescue services have information that a second person may be in the water. 

Commenting on their Facebook page this evening Meath Civil Defence said "Our search in Navan has concluded for today. Unfortunately we got a call from the An Garda Síochána this afternoon with information that there may be a second person in the river. As we had a boat on the river at the time we proceeded to the identified location to commence the search. The search for both missing persons will continue in the morning."
