VIDEO: Rescue services working in difficult conditions as search for two missing Navan men continues

Family members and friends of two missing Navan men could only look on as rescue services continued with painstaking searches of the rivers Blackwater and Boyne today.  

Searches are continuing for 49-year-old John Stokes from St Patrick’s Park in Navan who has been missing for two weeks now. Meath Civil Defence, Meath River Rescue and the Garda Sub Aqua Unit have been co-ordinating the search operations. 

Gardai have renewed their appeal to the public for information on Mr Stokes whereabouts. He was last seen at around 10pm on Saturday, 18th November at St Patrick’s Park, Navan and is described at 5’9” in height, and of slim build.
Gardai are also asking people out walking along the Boyne and Blackwater Rivers to be aware of the search and keep a look out.

Yesterday it has emerged that gardai and rescue services had received information that a second person may also be in the water. The search for both missing men will continue at first light.

Christopher Rennicks of Meath River Rescue says it has been a difficult search.

"We got a call from the Guards last Sunday week, that John was missing. There's no certainty that he was in the water but we searched the river that night and have continued ever since. Some people are working and we have skeleton crews but we'll keep going."
