Hijacked taxi found burnt out in Ashbourne
A taxi that was hijacked in the Swords area in the early hours of this morning has been found burnt out at the Rath, Ashbourne. The vehicle, a white Volkswagen Caddy, is being examined by Gardai.
The incident involved the taxi driver picking up two male fares at the North Circular Road in Dublin at 4am. He drove the passengers to the Rathbeale Road area in Swords. However, upon arrival, one of the passengers held what is suspected to be a knife to the driver’s neck whilst the other got out of the car, opened the driver’s door and dragged the driver out of the vehicle. The two males then left the scene in the Caddy which was found burnt out and still smouldering at 9am on a minor road at The Rath.
