Four winners and a baby to be christened
Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch had a hectic weekend, but it was an enjoyable one.
Apart from four winners in three days - Fairyhouse on Saturday, Navan on Sunday and a double at Musselburgh on Monday - of more importance to Andrew and his wife Riona was the christening of his first child, Aaron, on Saturday morning last.
“It was a busy day for us (wife Riona who works with Noel Meade), but Fr Ferris in Curraha was very helpful and we had a 10am slot,” the popular jockey told the Meath Chronicle.
“I was a bit late for that as I had to ride out on Saturday morning, but fortunately Riona knows the routine and Fr Ferris also knows me well as he used to teach me at school in Ashbourne.
“Aaron is 11-weeks-old and it was a great day for everyone, the winners helped as well,” he added.
At Musselburgh on Monday Lynch partnered the Jim Dreaper-trained Mullaghmurphy Blue, the 11-10 favourite, to a second victory of the season at the Scottish track after surviving a first fence mistake.
The Meath jockey completed his brace on the Karl Thornton-trained Rancher Lass in a handicap chase forging clear on the run-in to get the better of Havana Jack.
