Icy conditions for Robbie & Rita 5k
Icy conditions greeted runners for the inaugural Robbie & Rita 5km road race in Navan this afternoon from Claremont Stadium, but after a delay to facilitate the thaw, the event proved a big success.
The race was organised by Navan AC to commemorate the late Robbie Byrne and the late Rita Brady, two stalwarts of the club who were behind the development of facilities at Claremont Stadium.
There was a special medal for the event for all who finished with the men's race going to Thomas Moran (Dunshaughlin AC) and Bohermeen's Andrea McGuinness taking the women's event.
See next edition of Meath Chronicle (in the shops 2nd January) for all the finishing times and photos from today.
