Man threatened with knife and handgun during aggravated burglary
Trim Gardai are investigating an aggravated burglary at a home in Cloneycavan, Ballivor, last night where the owner was threatened by two suspects armed with a knife and a firearm. The injured party, who is in his late forties, had been bringing in fuel for the fire and was confronted by two men when he came back inside. One of the suspects was carrying a knife and the other had a handgun. They threatened the injured party and took his wallet which contained a sum of money. His mobile phone was also taken. The victim received minor injuries, which did not need hospital treatment.
One of the suspects is described as being 5'11 to 6'0 in height, of stocky build, was wearing dark clothes and had an English accent, while the other was 5'7 to 5'8 in height, of slim build, was wearing dark clothes and spoke with a Dublin accent. There is no description for the transport used by the suspects.
Gardai are appealing to the public to contact Trim Gardai on (046) 9431222 or the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 if they saw anybody acting suspiciously in the Cloneycavan/Ballivor area last night between 7pm - 8:30pm or anyone driving erratically in the area.
