Petition against Narconon plans handed in to council

A petition against plans by the Narconon Trust for a drug rehabilitation centre in Ballivor was handed in to Meath County Council Cathaoirleach Cllr Gerry O'Connor this afternnon.

The 'Ballivor Says No' campaign also held a protest outside the council offices on Railway Street ahead of the monthly meeting of the council.

The petition was circulated in local shops and businesses and had close to 1,000 signatures. The petition objects to plans for a Scientology centre, Narconon centre or wellness centre in the village and called on the council to act on the petition as a matter of urgency.

The Ballivor Says No campaign will join other groups against Scientology and Narconon in a major protest outside the Dail planned for 6th March. The Ballivor group intends to present a copy of its petition to Taoiseach Leo Varadkar on that date.
