Meath boss fuming at late postponement

Meath manager Andy McEntee has been left frustrated at the late call to postpone the NFL Div 2 clash with Cavan in Breffni Park this morning.
After seeing last night's original clash declared a washout less than 90 minutes before the scheduled throw-in time of 7pm, McEntee was fuming at the decision to refix the game for the same venue today at 2pm, subject to a pitch inspection at 9am.
"I'm absolutely fuming about this, there is no concern for player welfare or the reality that there's life outside of football. This call could have been made in Breffni Park last night (Saturday), it was obvious the game wouldn't go ahead on Sunday," raged McEntee.
"However, they insisted on having a pitch inspection this morning to determine what the dog on the street knew at 6pm on Saturday evening.
"Our players were standing in the tunnel in Breffni Park on Saturday evening with the weather apps open on their phones and everyone knew there was going to be snow, snow, snow, but nobody made the call.
"Where is the concern for the players here?" questioned McEntee.
A date for the refixture hasn't been confirmed by the GAA yet, but there are only two possibilities with next Sunday 18th February and the weekend 10th/11th March both free of NFL action.
However, Meath are scheduled to play their postponed O'Byrne Cup final against Westmeath next Sunday, while a game on 11th March would mean Meath would have to play five NFL games on successive weekends.
