Geraghty and Jezki land opener
Former Champion Hurdler Jezki blew off the cobwebs at Leopardstown yesterday when winning the opener for jockey Barry Geraghty.
However, there was a sting in the tail for the Drumree man as he picked up a one day ban after the stewards viewed an incident at the bend into the home straight in which the Ruby Walsh-partnered Karalee was also involved.
The Stewards made no alteration to the result with Jezki holding on to the race from the Gordon Elliott-trained Lieutant Colonel with Walsh and Karalaa back in third place.
The Jessica Harrington-trained Jezki will go to either Aintree or Punchestown.
Gordon Elliott had better luck in the next race when he took the spoils for Qatar Racing with the former flat horse Pallasator (won eight on the level).
With Davy Russell on board yesterday Pallasator won a maiden hurdle – previously won the John Shortt Legends race in Punchestown last October with legend Norman Williamson on board.
