Four arrests in Athboy Post Office robbery investigation
Gardai investigating last Friday's armed robbery at Athboy Post Office arrested four males following searches of five locations in Navan and Trim yesterday.
The four males, who are aged between 23 and 30 were arrested early yesterday morning and detained in garda stations in Ashbourne, Navan, Kells and Trim, under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act where they were questioned in relation to the robbery of Athboy Post Office on 16th March. Two of the suspects were arrested in Trim, and two in Navan.
They were released yesterday evening without charge pending the preparation of a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Superintendent Sean Farrell of Kells Garda Station confirmed that gardai at Kells supported by gardai from Navan, Ashbourne, Trim, the armed support unit and a national unit searched five locations yesterday morning under warrant and made four arrests.
Supt Farrell has thanked those who came forward following their appeal and added if there is anyone else who thinks of anything they saw that might help in the investigation or anyone passing the area around that time who has dashcam footage to please contact Kells Garda Station on (046) 9280820.
