Navan woman's kind debs dress gesture
A Navan woman has been inundated with kind comments after offering a once-worn debs dress for free to any young girl or family struggling to pay for the expensive gowns.
Biddy Power (18) from Navan posted pics of herself wearing the beautiful full length dress and said any size 6-8 girl in need of it was welcome to it.
She also encouraged any girls out there who had no longer a use for their debs dresses to consider doing the same.
Biddy posted "Any girl who's a size 6- small 8 in need of a debs dress is more than welcome to this one. It isn't anything fancy, it it looks good and is very comfortable and easy to move in, preferably someone who is in actual need for one whom may not be able to afford the expensive costs of debs dresses. I would hate to see it be stuck away and never used again when it could help out someone else. If interested please do text me and I would also encourage other girls who have dresses from there debs that they have no use for to give to someone else in need if they can cause a lot of girls and parents can't afford to attend debs. Little things like this could be the difference between a girl being able to attend her debs and not being able to afford to."
One poster responded saying, "What a big heart, very nice thing to do and you look amazing in it. Who ever gets it should be very greatful and feel very lucky, good on you."
Biddy, who had her own debs in Tullamore last year, said her messages "had been going mad" and added that she wasn't expecting so many kind comments.
She is encouraging other girls to consider doing the same. "I just thought it was something simple that could help out a lot of people. I am extremely happy I did it."
Biddy has decided to give her dress to a local girl and is meeting her this evening. She said her mother got in touch and explained they couldn't afford to send her to the debs and the dress would be a great help.
"I decided to give it to a girl who I thought would be most grateful for it," said Biddy.
