Record-breaking Gordon Elliott hits 194
Record-breaking and Gordon Elliott go well together and the top trainer took his tally for the season to 194 with a treble at Downpatrick today.
That 194 beats his 193 total for last season and he also sent out the first and third (separated by Noel Meade's Tulsa Jack) in the Toals Bookmakers Ulster National Irish EBF Handicap Chase.
Poormans Hill and Jack Kennedy took the spoils in that race ahead of Tulsa Jack with the Elliott-trained Out Sam(carried wide by a loose horse at the last) in third
There was three parts of a length back to the aforementionedp>Out Sam in third.
The earlier Elliott winners were Percy (Davy Russell) and Isodon (Katie O’Farrell).
"It's unbelievable. Obviously we trained 193 last year which Willie had done before and we levelled it. I'm just unfortunate I'm around the same time as Willie Mullins. It's great for Irish racing."
