Moynalty jockey on the mark for Dermot Weld
Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh turned back the clock at Cork today when he rode a winner for trainer Dermot Weld as he deputised for the sidelined with illness Pat Smullen.
McDonogh was champion jockey in 2006 when he edged out Smullen in the race for the title, but last November he announced that for 2018 he would riding as a freelance.
The Meath man was an apprentice with Weld some 20 years ago, but his last ride for the trainerw as back in 2011.
All that changed today at the Munster track when McDonogh partnered Imaging to victory when hitting the front inside the final 50 yards.
