First Irish National for Gordon Elliott
Gordon Elliott added another first to his impressive CV when winning the Irish Grand National today at Fairyhouse with the Gigginstown-owned General Principle.
Johnny Slevin was on board the winner which enhances the prospects of Gordon Elliott recording another first, winning the NH Trainers' title for the first time when the season ends at Punchestown later this month.
Owner Michael O'Leary wasn't at Fairyhouse, but was apparaently watching the race from Miami in the USA.
Second was the Willie Mullins-trained Isleofhopendreams was second while the Eddie Cawley-trained Forever Gold was in with a great chance over the final fence and finished third.
