Action from this evening's game at Bohermeen.

Goal rush helps Summerhill to victory

The ability to find the net proved a big asset for Summerhill as they defeated Skryne 3-11 to 1-12 in the SFC at Bohermeen this evening.

Wounded by the defeat to Gaeil Colmcille in the opening round Summerhill looked impressive in this game - once they got going. They didn't make the best of starts and trailed by 1-4 to 0-1 early on with Darragh Campion firing to the net for Skryne.

However the 'Hill recovered to lead 1-8 to 1-4 at the interval with Conor Frayne scoring the Summerhill goal.

The game was a tough, all-action encounter with Conor Lyons converting six frees for Summerhill while Barry Dardis, David Larkin and John Keane also fired over. Willie Ryan scored Summerhill's second goal from a well-hit penalty while in injury time Liam Shaw confidently finished to the net to put the finishing touches on a fine victory for the 'Hill.

Skryne's top marksman was Paddy O'Rourke with eight points, five frees, but they lacked the cutting edge in attack to build on their excellent start.

Afterwards Summerhill manager John Lyons in speaking to the Meath Chronicle hit out at the lack of respect shown to club players as there will now be a long wait to the next championship game.

"County managers have all the power they are holding onto players for eight to 10 weeks before championship games, it's ridiculous,"  he said.
