Man injured in machete attack horror in Ashbourne

Gardaí are investigating an incident which occurred this morning in the Killegland area of Ashbourne in which a man is believed to have been attacked with a large knife or machete. A male (age unknown) was taken to hospital with injuries.

According to reports a man got out a car on Killegland Street and is understood to have attacked the injured man. It's believed the victim recieved wounds to his arm and his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening. The suspect fled the scene in a car. Gardai say one line of investigation being followed is that the morning attack may be linked to an ongoing local feud.

Gardai and emergency services were quickly on the scene and one man was taken to hospital. It's believed a doctor passing the scene offered prompt assistance.
