Elliott takes first and Mullins wins second
Gordon Elliott reduced the gap in the race for the trainers' title with a first race win at Punchestown this evening, but Willie Mullins won the second race.
Elliott took the opener with Park Paddocks to reduce the gap to E30,161, but Mullins took the next with Cadmium to go approx E75,000 clear again.
"It's racing, and you have to smile and keep your head up. Willie is an amazing man and it just goes to show what he can do," stated the Summerhill man.
"If you give up in this game you're in trouble, we are on the back foot and we'll enjoy the rest of the week whatever happens," he added.
The Festival contnues today, tomorrow and Saturday when it the NH season concludes.
