Blaze damages five cars in Navan car park

Five cars were damaged in a blaze in the car park of the old Motor Tax Office in Navan this morning. Navan Fire Service were alerted at around 10.10am and extinguished the blaze. Navan Gardai were also at the scene.
The alarm was raised by a passerby who noticed a cloud of black smoke and alerted the emergency services. Three units of Navan Fire Service were despatched and when they arrived, four cars were ablaze. It is understood that two of the cars were destroyed and there was damage to three others.
Gardai have confirmed there were no injuries and the owners of the vehicles have been notified.
The car park was quite full at the time and the fire was quickly brought under control before it spread to further vehicles. Navan Fire Service were on the scene for approximately an hour.
Navan Gardai are investigating the cause of the blaze and whether it could have been due to an electrical fault.
