Lenihan in Irish squad as O'Neill attends schools' finals
Darragh Lenihan from Dunboyne remains in line to become the first player from Meath to be capped for the Republic of Ireland at senior international level when he was included in Martin O'Neill's squad for the series of forthcoming game against Celtic, France and the United States.
Lenihan has impressed for Blackburn Rovers this season and could feature for the full internatiioals against France and the United States.
The squad was officialy revealed today when O'Neill visited the MDL where he also presented medals to teams who had won or finished runners-up in the SPAR FAI Primary Schools' Five-a-side finals.
Among the schools who finished runners-up were Scoil Cholmcille, Skryne, Dunderry NS and Realt na Mara Donacarney while Athboy NS battled bravely but just missed out on the medals. A large contingent of parents showed up for the finals which included 24 teams from various schools around Leinster.
Among the surprise inclusions in the Republic of Ireland squad was Graham Burke of Shamrock Rovers with Ian Lawlor and Conor O'Malley also among the newcomers.
Some players will drop out of the squad after the Celtic game on Sunday, May 20 in Celtic Park, while others will only report into camp ahead of the trip to Paris to take on France on Monday, May 28 in Stade de France and the home game against the United States on June 2.
