LISTEN Leading flat trainer Ger Lyons is remarkably frank and honest when it comes to racing
"He destroyed my right leg, broke most of my ribs if not all of them, broke my right shoulder and punctured a lung, so I was in a bad way - and there was an ambulance strike. The lads were going down to the start for the next race, my pals, and one of them actually got sick when he looked down at me. The doctor told me I had lost my right leg, that's how bad it was."
Kiltale based trainer Ger Lyons explains how he ended up as one of the country's leading trainers after his riding career was dramatically cut short following a horrific fall off Monanore in Newcastle in 1989.
Lyons looks back on 2017 with a particular fondness and the part he played in helping Trim jockey Colin Keane ride 100 riders and become champion jockey.
In a remarkably frank, open and honest discussion Lyons doesn't hold back when it comes to discussing his views on Irish racing, so be sure to check out this latest edition of Talk A Good Game #TAGG
