Cornyn goes in search of glory
Dunboyne AC's Niall Cornyn will be putting the finishing touches to his preparation this week for the ITU Duathlon World Championships on the island of Fyn, Denmark.
Cornyn will be take part in the Men's Elite u-23 event which gets underway on Friday at 6pm Irish team.
The athlete will carry the best wishes of his club with Cornyn's determination and dedication to his sport one of the reasons why he is now competing with the world's top athletes in his discipline.
'Niall came up through the ranks as a juvenile at Dunboyne AC and was coached locally over the years and a great example to all juveniles demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work and passion," explained Dunboyne PRO John O'Malley.
The ITU Duathlon World Championships have been held annually since 1990. The championships involve a continuous run-cycle-run, with the format since 1994 being a first run of 10 km, a cycle of 40 km and a second run of 5 km (distances varied prior to 1994). The championships are organised by the International Triathlon Union (ITU).
