Carlanstown to get bus service

Carlanstown is to get its own bus service, after many years of camapigning.

Deputy Thomas Byrne has expressed his delight at confirmation that Carlanstown will be linked to Kells by bus.

"I have been campaigning for many years for a bus service through Carlanstown to connect in Kells. At a meeting with senior NTA officials today they confirmed that they hope to have such a service in place by Spring next year.

"The NTA Plan is quite extensive and will bring considerable benefits to North Meath and Kells. The plan to extend the Route 167 Dundalk - Ardee service over the N52 connecting those towns with Kells and Mullingar and opening up brand new links between Kells, Ardee and Mullingar. This will be of significant benefit to communities along the route such as Drumconrath, Lobinstown, Castletown and of course Carlanstown.

"I am really excited by this as this new bus will open up North Meath villages to massively enhanced public transport.

"I will be keeping the pressure on the NTA to deliver on this commitment as there have been false dawns before. But this is good news and the estimated start date is sometime in Spring next year" concluded Deputy Byrne.
