Moynalvey and Rathkenny draw
Moynalvey and Rathkenny played out a SFC draw tonight (1-8 to 0-11) at Pairc Tailteann.
Moynalvey produced a number of fluent bursts in the opening half and they all finished with three excellent David McLoughlin points.
That was after a superb individual goal from Cillian O'Sullivan in the ninth minute, but that was the only sparkle they produced as Rathkenny reeled off the points to lead by the minimum (0-7 to 1-3) at the interval.
Three pointed Jack Gore frees were augmented by a brace from play by Owen Elliott and one apiece by Caolach Haligan and Brian Lenehan.
Halligan limped out of the action in the 13th minute and was replaced by Donal Curtis while Moynalvey's Brian Harnan picked up a yellow card for a challnege on Rathkenny's best player, Donal Keogan.
There was never much between the teams in the second-half although the loss of David McLoughlin with an arm injury at the end of the third-quarter was a setback for Moynalvey.
Points from McLoughlin before he departed and four from Cillian O'Sullivan had Moynalvey in good shape but Rathkenny earned a draw when Jack Gore sent over a free in added time, his second of the half.
Ivan Lenehan and Brian Meade also sent over in a tight second-half.
