Tense wait for Leaving Cert Results

Tension is in the air for 2,191 families across Meath tonight as they await the Leaving Certificate results which will be available on Wednesday morning.

Anxious students will be gathering at schools on Wednesday to learn their fate, while many others will wait to get their results online.
Some 2,191 Meath students sat the Leaving Certificate in 19 schools around the county last June and the results will be delivered to schools this Wednesday.
The State Examinations Commission has advised students to check with their individual schools regarding specific times that morning.
Students can also access their results via the internet using their PIN number and examination number. PIN numbers have been made available through schools or have been sent directly to external candidates. This service will be available from 12 noon on Wednesday on www.examinations.ie
Any student who is unhappy with their results and feel that there may have been an error in the marking can appeal their results by filling in an appeal form that can be obtained from their school.
The closing date for Leaving Cert appeal applications is 5th September.
The next big date for this year's Leaving Certs is Monday next when the CAO (Central Applications Office) releases round one offers to candidates online at 6am. Offer notices will be posted to candidates to arrive on Monday and minimum points required for entry to each course are available on the CAO website from 6am on Monday.
The closing date for acceptance of CAO round one offers is 24th August and Round 2 Offers will be available online on Wednesday, 29th August.

The National Parents Council Leaving Cert Helpline 1800 265 165 will operate from this Wednesday until Wednesday 22nd August, covering the release of the results through to the first round of offers from the CAO.

The Helpline supports students and parents by reducing stress through providing accurate information and counselling during this time.

The phones will be staffed by members of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors, who will assist callers with up to date information on all the issues that arise at this time. These will range from, appeal procedures, points, CAO applications and non-CAO options. SUSI, the Student Universal Support Ireland, will also have a representative on hand to advise on any grant related queries.
