Kentstown Rovers v Athboy Match Highlights this Sunday
Both these sides come into this match in the wrong half of the table considering they both finished third and fourth respectively last season, with Athboy Celtic losing out on premier division football after a slender 3-2 play off loss at the hands of Duleek.
Kentstown begun the campaign well with a 2-0 win at home to Omp United but back to back defeats against Parkvilla and Torro United saw them collect just three points in the opening 3 games. Athboy lost out to Omp United in the opening fixture at home but bounced back thumping Torro United 6-2 followed by an away victory over Kingscourt Harps, But lost their last outing away to Parkvilla.
Kentstown will be without Colin Lynch & Arnold Luco as they are suspended for this game, but are hoping Andrew Lynch will be fully fit for Sunday's game after a knock in his last match. Athboy have to wait to see if four players have recovered in time after they hobbled off against Parkvilla last week with Derek Kierans, John Murray, Killian Maguire and Emanuel Nyarko receiving treatment.
Athboy will come into the game knowing they have players who can score goals with Jack Kelly and Derek Kierans on the scoresheets while in form striker Derek Bowens and his brother David will want to do well against the club they used to line out for. Kentstown will miss striker Arnold Luco as he can score plenty of goals but youngsters Cormac Madden and super sub Charlie Cullen have been impressing of late so they will always be a threat.
Key players to watch out for on Kentstown Rovers will be the ever improving Matthew Poutch, Colin Lynch and Andrew Lynch (If fit). Athboy Celtic have an abundance of talent in their star studded squad with Sean Thornton coming in recently, Callum Ennis is playing well and Bashmill Nykinbiri is a strong defender after signing from Athlone Town. Athboy may also have former Drogheda United player Gavin Brennan available for this match after he signed forms at the start of the week.
Kentstown Rovers joint manager Noel Walsh said this week that the game will be a big match for his side against a very tough team given they lost twice to Athboy last season. Athboy Celtic manager Derek Kavanagh said though they only take it one game at at time his side will be hopeful of three points on the road, they are confident after assembling a very strong squad this season.
Prediction - Its hard to see Athboy Celtic lose this game given the squad they have but Kentstown Rovers are known for shocks but an away win here.
