Fitzgerald answers Leinster's call

Navan RFC player Molly Fitzgerald will be taking her place today in the Leinster Girls u-18 team that takes on Ulster at Portadown. 

This is another recognition that Fitzgerald is one of the brightest young players in Leinster and she will once more take her place on the wing. Last week Fitzgerald was one of the Leinster try scorers in a comprehensive victory over Munster at Musgrave Park. 

Now she and her colleagues will be looking to record a win over Ulster. Last autumn Fitzgerald was also selected on the Leinster Girls u-18s for a game against Munster in what was an early recognition of her talents as a winger with plenty of pace an ability to finish off moves. 

Her talents also earned her a call-up to the Irish squad during the summer for an u-18 'Home Nations Sevens Tournament' in Edinburgh. 

There are three other players from the North East on the Leinster squad for today's game. Fitzgerald will be joined by sisters Caoimhe and Meadhbh O'Callaghan from Dundalk RFC while Ellie Meade from Ardee RFC will take her place on the bench.   

Navan RFC official Gerry Williamson has pointed out how there will be a lot of Navan RFC interest in today's Pro 14 match between Benetton Rugby and the Cardiff Blues. "Former Navan coach John Mulvihill is head coach of the Blues and Navan RFC referee Sean Gallagher takes charge of this match," noted Williamson.  This will be Gallagher's 10th Pro 14 league match.
