Snow storm in Listowel feature
Castletown trainer Noel Meade made the trip to LIstowel worthwhile today when he landed the €118,000 first prize for Grade A Guinness Kerry National Handicap Chase with Snow Falcon.
It was an overdue success for the Meade-trained horse which was out of luck in the Irish National at Easter and then at Aintree,
but today prevailed by a neck for jockey Johnny Moore and then survived a stewards' enquiry.
The enquiry revolved around possible interference against the Willie Mullins-trained Saturnas (second) while the Gordon Elliott-trained Rogue Angel was third.
Moore was deputising for regular pilot Sean Flanagan who sustained a fractured left leg in a fall at at Tramore last month that will keep him sidelined until the end of this month.
"Everything went great for him through the race, it's tough on Sean that he's missing it but that's the way it goes," said
Meade.
"He (Snow Falcon) could go for the Ladbroke Trophy at Newbury and the Munster National is a possibility as well," he added.
