Four arrested after car fails to stop at checkpoint
Four persons were arrested after a car failed to stop at a Garda Checkpoint in Dunshaughlin. The incident occurred at 9.45pm. Gardaí followed the offending vehicle for some distance before bringing it to a halt in Clonmellon, Co. Westmeath using a stinger device. The Garda Air Support Unit was also deployed.
Four occupants in the car were arrested and taken to Navan, Trim and Kells Garda Stations. Two Garda cars, one from Meath Roads Policing Unit and one from Delvin, were damaged during the incident when they were rammed by the offending vehicle. A full investigation is ongoing and court appearances are expected.
