UPDATE Power to be restored by 10pm

Update - Thousands of houses remain without power across Meath this lunchtime, with the ESB now giving a timeline of 10pm for restoration of power.
Meanwhile, Meath Fire services have been busy over the last few hours clearing roads of fallen trees and debris.
A status yellow wind warning is now in place for the country until 9pm this evening.
Meanwhile those who had travelled or planned to travel to the National Ploughing Championships this morning  can have their tickets redeemed tomorrow.
Anna May McHugh NPA Managing Director stated  "Once the winds have abated today, remedial works will continue in earnest to have the site up and operational for tomorrow’s event.
"The NPA would like to thank the general public for their patience and understanding. " 
 As storm Ali battered the country this morning, more than 4000 local homes were left without power, while fallen trees and debris caused traffic chaos.
The storm has also claimed one life, with a woman dead in Co Galway as a caravan was blown over a cliff.
Power lines are down in a number of locations affecting 1,131 homes in Kells and over 2,000 in the Mullagh area with smaller outages in the Randalstown, Navan and Slane areas.
The ESB is predicting that power will be restored to those areas by 2pm.

Meanwhile the Trim Summerhill Road just outside Summerhill is blocked by a fallen tree, but fire services have the road almost cleared and open again.
Branches down on a large tree at Balreask Village in Navan are blocking one carriageway of the Trim Road just before the junction at Beechmount and there is a lot of debris on rural roads around the county.
Meanwhile  there is a possibility of a red alert if wind speeds reach over 130kph in parts of the country today.
Met Eireann says “damaging gusts” of up to 130kph are expected.
A Status Orange - Wind warning is in place for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Clare and Kerry and this has been extended until 1pm today.
