Golden Globe nominated, Navan-born composer Brian Byrne is this week hosting a special one-off concert in his native town with a night of Broadway tunes, songs he’s written for major international movies and compositions from his critically acclaimed album 'Goldenhair'. Teaming up with his cousin, West End star William Byrne, the in-demand Hollywood composer will present the first ever live performance of his brand new song The Mystery of your Gift, composed and performed by Brian and broadway megastar Josh Groban for the movie Boychoir, starring Academy Award winner Dustin Hoffman and Kathy Bates. Byrne is forming a choir specially for the concert in Solstice featuring students from St Patrick’s Classical School, Saint Mary’s Musical Society and talented children from Kells Theatre School.
The evening will also include a rare performance of award-winning song 'Lay Your Head Down' from the Oscar-nominated movie ‘Albert Nobbs’ as well as a sneak preview of songs from a brand new musical that Byrne is currently writing with his wife Kasey Jones.
Byrne moved to Los Angeles from Navan in July 2003 and has consistently worked as a composer, conductor, songwriter, arranger and pianist in the US and in Europe. H has written music for films in many genres and has collaborated with such international luminaries as Katy Perry, Bono, Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Josh Groban, Kurt Elling, Lisa Stansfield, Van Morrison, Alanis Morissette,The Corrs, Sinead O’Connor, Alan Bergman, Ronan Tynan, Luis Miguel, Vince Gill, Gladys Knight, to name a few.
'The Movie Songs of Brian Byrne and more' takes place in Solstice Arts Centre, Navan on Friday 5th October, 8pm with tickets from €18 available from the Solstice box office.
