'Blood' premieres on Virgin tonight
'Blood', a new original Irish crime series commissioned by Virgin Media Television, with the support of the BAI, will air on Virgin Media One tonight (Monday 8th October), at 9pm.
The highly anticipated six-part psychological thriller which has already been sold in the UK and the US, follows the saga of the Hogan family, an Irish household crippled with bitterness and resentments bubbling beneath the surface.
In episode one, after the sudden death of her mother Mary, estranged youngest daughter Cat is called home. This uncomfortable, unplanned reunion awakens demons from Cat’s past and shines a new, suspicious light on her mother's death as she begins to suspect her father Jim’s (Adrian Dunbar) involvement.
After a harrowing drive, Cat arrives at her childhood home where she is met by her older brother Michael and their elder sister Fiona. Their mother died only hours before. Though she had been ill with MND, it had been a shock for them all. She had walked to the pond at the bottom of the garden, fallen and hit her head on the flagstones.
Their father Jim had been called out to work in the surgery first thing, and didn’t find her until he got back that evening. But Cat has questions. Why was their mother on her own all day? Where was the carer? When did Mary deteriorate to the point of having falls? Cat’s questions irritate Fiona, who thinks Cat is always searching for a way to blame her father for something.
Cat is on a mission to unearth what she believes is the truth as the family is torn apart by the conflicting stories and lies. Did Jim kill Cat’s mother? And if so, why? Will Cat lose all the family she has left by pursuing the truth regardless of the consequences?
And if you can’t wait for Episode 2, it will be available straight after Episode 1, exclusively on Virgin TV on Demand.
