Scrum time between Navan and Blackrock today.

Balreask Old rocks as Navan win again in AIL Div 2A

It gets better and better for Navan. They continued their blistering start to their AIL Div 2A campaign when they defeated Blackrock 28-8 at Balreask Old today.

The game was played in persistent rain but that didn't undermine the cause of the home team who worked hard to build a platform to win against one of the best known club names in Irish rugby.

This was a wonderful, disciplined display by the home team who conceded the opening score of the game when Blackrock's Paul Cullen scored from a penalty.

However it didn't take long for Navan to get their running game going despite the conditions and they led 15-8 at the interval thanks to tries from Paddy Fox and Brian Haugh, the home team's busy scrum-half.

Haugh also added points from a conversion and penalty to help his team go in at the break with that sizeable advantage.

In the second-half Navan continued to add to their account with the home side moving the ball through the phases before one of  Navan's props, Leigh Jackson, scored a try after the home forwards drove relentlessly onwards.

The conversion was missed but Navan's fourth try later came from Riaan van der Vyver when he broke from midfield and dived over to celebrate his 100th AIL appearance for Navan in style.

Haugh also added a penalty in that second-half and with the home side defending well in the closing stages a rousing victory was completed.
