Ballivor win Junior D FC title
Ballivor brought the Junior D FC and the Liam Creavin Cup home from Pairc Tailteann with a 2-19 to 1-8 victory over Ratoath.
Wind-assisted Ballivor were well in control at half-time in this final against Ratoath as they established a 1-11 to 1-2 interval advantage.
Seven players made the scoreboard and that included all starting six forwards with Clayton Keegan finding the net in first-half added time.
Keegan also sent over a brace of points and those scores were augmented by three from midfielder Patrick Conneely, two from veteran Ray McKeown and one each by Padraig Geoghegan, Sean Corrigan, Sean Heavey and Patrick Molloy.
Ratoath struggled for scores, but Leigh Sullivan's goal was a boost and the points arrived early and late in the half from Frank Coyne and Glen Reilly.
Ratoath resumed smartly after the break with a Toirdealhac O'Neill point, but that was as good as it got and a much more mobile Ballivor side kept a tight grip on the game.
Ray McKeown scrambled a goal after he claimed possession from a high centre and by the end of the third-quarter Ballivor had
established a 2-14 to 1-5 advantage.
Conneely (two) and Geoghegan claimed the points while Coyne and Simon Barry sent over for Ratoath.
There was no major change in the closing stages with Ratoath adding points from O'Neill (two frees) and substitute Matthew Kelly while
Ballivor kept ticking over with efforts from Conneely (two), Geoghegan, Shane Farrell and Corrigan.
