Liverpool FC are holding a bucket collection in support of Dunboyne man Sean Cox ahead of tomorrow's fixture against Cardiff City at Anfield.
The 53 year old father of three was received serious brain injuries after being assaulted by Roma fans prior to a Champions League clash between Roma and Liverpool in April of this year.
He spent a number of weeks in hospital in Liverpool before being moved to Beaumont and was subsequently transferred to the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoighaire.
Liverpool have pledged to raise awareness for at the game for a GoFundMePage set up to assist the Cox family through LED advertising and tannoy announcements.
At the time of writing donations to the page stood at €50,560
Liverpool FC Foundation, the club’s official charity, will also partner the Support Sean appeal and will be donating funds raised by its own fundraising efforts, which will start with the matchday foundation lottery at the Cardiff game. The charity will also create a special auction which will include unique LFC experiences with all proceeds donated to the appeal.
