Navan juvenile hockey blitz a success
Navan Hockey Club hosted a successful juvenile blitz last week and played two games against Cavan A (won 3-1) and Cavan B (won 3-0).
The games catered for all age groups throughout the morning and the players displayed the outstanding talent that both clubs have with great teamwork, skill and determination evident.
Navan junior girls and boys showed continued success after their win against Boyne HC two weeks earlier winning both games against Cavan A and Cavan B.
Clodagh McGauren, Anna Nolan, Rebecca O'Rourke and Abigail O'Connell kept the defensive line tight in both games with neither team able to break through their solid defensive displays.
Cavan were strong in their attacks and tested these girls time and time again, but Navan fought hard and kept their heads to clear the attacks on goal.
Lara Pollock, Alice Nicholson, Grace Bellew, Juliette Carroll-O'Breen, Polly Pringle, Lisa Menting and Niall Dougherly lined out in the midfield between the two games. They all played well to keep the attacking play in Navan's favour.
Dougherly proved a key player in both games setting up three goals for the Navan side while Pollock, Nicholson, Bellew, Carroll-O'Breen and O'Rourke all scored goals.
Eve O'Connell and Sarah O'Dea displayed great strength in the forward line.
They fought hard in the D and took up good positions at all times.
