Pupils demonstrate the HAKA

A North Meath HAKA

Scott Barrett visited St Fiach's NS in Ballinacree earlier this week as well as the St Brigids GFC club and was treated to a performance of the HAKA as Gaeilge version.

Scott Barrett and his brother Beauden are in the panel for tomorrow's game at the Aviva against Ireland.

The New Zealand teams is Damian McKenzie; Ben Smith, Jack Goodhue, Ryan Crotty, Rieko Ioane; Beauden Barrett, Aaron Smith; Karl Tu’inukuafe, Codie Taylor, Owen Franks; Sam Whitelock, Brodie Retallick; Liam Squire, Ardie Savea, Kieran Read while the replacements are Dane Coles, Ofa Tu’ungafasi, Nepo Laulala, Scott Barrett, Matt Todd, TJ Perenara, Richie Mo’unga, Anton Lienert-Brown.

Earlier this week there was great excitement around the north Meath area of Ballinacree when St Brigid's GFC welcomed members of the All Blacks rugby team to the area - and not for the first time.

The All Blacks will play Ireland on Saturday evening at the Aviva, but also this week Scott Barrett took time out of his busy schedule to visit St Brigids GAA club in Ballinacree and accompanying him were his father Kevin and brother Blake.

Almost 20 years ago Kevin and his wife Robyn moved to Ballinacree (1999) where they were managing a dairy farm and Kevin was playing rugby with the Buccaneers in Athlone.

The Barrett children all attended school locally and played Gaelic football with St Brigid’s GAA club (Ballinacree) and they also played at St Fiach’s National School.
