Walsh swoops late as Na Fianna claim dramatic win
It's never over until it's over. That old adage proved to be true once more as Na Fianna's Shane Walsh scored an injury time goal to secure a 3-12 to 2-13 victory for Na Fianna over Wexford side Taghmon Camross in the Leinster Club JHC semi-final at Trim earlier today.
Trailing by a point Na Fianna won a free inside their own half three minutes into injury time. Barry Slevin delivered the ball into Taghmon Camross's crowded goalmouth. The ball broke to Walsh who fired home.
It was the only time in the game that Na Fianna led in a very entertaining encounter that rocked and rolled throughout.
Ronan Byrne slammed home two first-half goals for Na Fianna while Stephen O'Groman netted for the Wexford side who led 1-10 to 2-5 at the break.
The Model County side continued to stay in front for most of the second-half although Na Fianna did haul themselves level at one stage.
The visitors shipped a blow when they had a player red carded. Still they came attacking and with 53 minutes played O'Gorman scored a second goal for Taghmon Camross. It looked like they would win at that stage.
As the game moved into injury time the Wexford side led 2-13 to 2-12 until Slevin lofted the ball into the goalmouth and Walsh fired home for a dramatic winner.
