HOCKEY - Narrow reversal for Navan men

Navan lost out by the odd goal in three against North Kildare in the Leinster  Men's Hockey League Div 4 top of the table encounter on Saturday at King's Hospital.

Despite missing several regular players, Navan dominated this game at times, but squandered a host of missed chances in a scorelss first-half, passing up three penalty corner chances.

Philip Garry was his usual energetic presence on the right wing, blitzing defenders with his pace and Eamon Lynskey made several strong runs.

Soon after the resumption a quick counter attack saw North Kildare break the deadlock and they doubled that lead after a lapse in possession from Navan.

The home team rallied and another penalty corner resulted in a penalty stroke after the ball struck a defender’s foot on the line.

Ru Clarke stepped up to try and add to his tally for the season, but missed the chance.

A consolation goal for Chris Booth after an incisive Clarke solo put a positive sheen on the scoreline.
