Nobody Home for Cawley

Meath trainer Edward Cawley enjoyed a visit to the winners' enclosure at day one of the Fairyhouse Winter Festival with Nobody Home which won by all of 17 lengths in a handicap hurdle.

 A winner over hurdles at the track last April, Nobody's Home had reun over fences recently, but reverted to hurdles last weekend at Navan in a race won by Walk To Freedom last Sunday.

Another Cawley runner was third behind runner-up Jetez which held on by a short head from Fruits Of Glory (33/1).

"I thought Fruits Of Glory had a chance, horses would make liars of you but as long as it’s the right way we don’t mind,” stated the trainer.

Gordon Elliott also kept the Meath flag flying with a Davy Russell-partnered double - Duca De Thaix and Mrs Lovett.

Elliott's Samcro was second in the Fighting Fifth at Newcastle.

"Not to be today for samcro but he ran a blinder against a proper champion,100 per cent  after the race and we live to fight another day" stated Elliott on Twitter after Samcro's runner-up finish to Buveur D'air.
