Star of the Sea clubman Brendan Meade will be preparing himself for a busy 2019 after he was elected chairperson of Meath Athletics Co Board for the year ahead at the Board's AGM in midweek - and no doubt he will in attendance for the Cross-country Championships which take place in Dunboyne tomorrow.
Meade who previously filled the role for a lengthy spell before stepping down has returned to head up the Co Board replacing Tommy Boshell while Graham Hyland from Cilles AC was elected vic-chairman and he takes over from PJ McGrath from St Andrew's.
"Congratulations to Brendan and Graham and a huge thank you to Tommy and PJ for all their hard work and dedication throughout the past year," commented Meath Athletics secretary Fiona Gunapala.
Rose Healy from Fr Murphy was appointed Hon President of Meath Athletics for 2019. She will receive her chair of honour and take up her duties at the Meath Athletics awards night. Rose replaces out-going President Maureen Gilsenan.
"A huge thank you also to Maureen for all her work during 2018," added Gunapala.
Don Mahon from Trim AC stays on as treasurer with Fr Murphy AC's Philip Cogavin remaining as registrarar. Three competition committees will be formed in January.
Aideen Sinnott from Na Fianna and Tom Clinton from Navan AC are the coaching and development officers for 2019.
Kate O'Neill from Navan AC has arranged with Paul McKee to run an assistant coach course at Claremont Stadium on Sunday 6th January.
"There are 24 people signed up from Navan and Dunboyne but Paul is opening it up to other clubs if they have anyone interested. Please led me know as soon as possible and I will pass on names to Paul," added Gunapala.
"Paul will be runnning more courses throughout the year. He is also running run, jump and throw coaching sessions and we will outline further details shortly. These shorter courses are primary for coaches."
The Meath Co Board secretary also asked clubs to supply details if they changed club officers.
