New weather warning issued for Meath as Storm Deirdre arrives
Met Eireann has revised its weather warnngs in advance of Storm Deirdre. There is now Status Yellow Wind warning for Meath, Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan and Monaghan. An Orange alert had previously been in place for those counties but forecasters say that warning now only applies counties Donegal in the northwest and Cork, Wexford and Waterford in the south and southeast.
Southeast winds will veer west to northwest later this afternoon and evening, with mean speeds 55 to 65 km/hr and gusts to 110 km/hr
A Status Yellow Rainfall warning for Ireland is still in effect
Heavy rain during Saturday will lead to accumulations of 30 to 50mm with some mountainous areas exceeding these limits.
