Another winner at Limerick for Keith Donoghue
Keith Donoghue made it two winners in two days at Limerick when he was on the mark again today.
The Gordon Elliott-trained Eclair De Beaufeu battled well for Donoghue to take the opening maiden hurdle taking it up approaching two out.
Donoghue's mount was overhauled by his fellow county man Robbie Power on board the Jessica Harrington-trained Envious Editor which took a narrow lead jumping the last hurdle.
However, Donoghue got another surge out of Eclair De Beaufeu to prevail by a length.
There was some compensation later on the card for Power when he partnered Routes Choice to a 33/1 shock success in a handicap hurdle for trainer Philip Dempsey.
LEOPARDSTOWN - DAY TWO
No Meath winners on the second day at the Foxrock track, but it was another memorable sporting day for Limerick as Auvergnat, owned by JP McManus, trained by Enda Bolger and ridden by Donie McInerney landed the Paddy Power Chase .
The first Grade 1 of the day went to Simply Ned for the second year on the trot for Nicky Richards with a win in the Paddy's Rewards Club Sugar Paddy Chase.
Footpad looked home and hosed halfway up the run-in but tied up close home and Simply Ned pounced under a perfectly-timed challenge from Mark Walsh to win at 16-1.
The attendance today was 16,439 with the Tote rteurns at €437,109 and bookies at €1,061,399.
RAZ DE MAREE
In the Welsh Grand National the Gavin Cromwell-trained Raz De Maree finished fifth.
