Loan move for player with strong Meath connections
Twenty-year-old Cavan man Jake Doyle-Hayes who has strong Drumree connections yesterday completed a loan move to Cambridge Utd from Aston Villa until the end of the season.
Doyle-Hayes is from Ballyjamesduff and the Meath connection is through his Drumree mother Maria Doyle while his father, Jim Hayes is from Dublin.
Doyle-Hayes has a contract with Aston Villa until the end of next season (2020) and will feature for League Two side Cambridge until the end of this season.
Cambridge manager Colin Calderwood completed the deadline day loan signing of Doyle-Hayes who made three senior appearances for Aston Villa including his professional debut against Wigan Athletic in August 2017.
Doyle-Hayes has also represented the Republic of Ireland at u-17, u-18 and u-19 levels and links up again with former Villa assistant-manager Calderwood.
